Book 8, Chapter 29 Summary
At the Corleone compound in Lake Tahoe, Theresa Hagen and Connie have become close. Theresa seems to be a grounding influence on Connie, who has given up the drinking and jet-setting and had come back to the family fold to take care of her divorced brother's domestic needs. Now Connie is the kind of woman Michael approves of. Tom and Mike talk business while the women make dinner; having Tom's kids around makes Michael miss his own more. They discuss the Ambassador's empty promises to give Billy Van Arsdale more responsibility; Billy's career is being stalled to prevent him accessing information for the Corleones. Tom worries about the Commission finding out Michael spoke to Indelicato first to put the hit on Narducci.
