Book 7, Chapter 24 Summary
Francesca Van Arsdale is six months pregnant with her second child. Her first child was named after Billy, but they call him Sonny, for her father. Billy now works for Danny Shea, the President's brother and new attorney general. Tonight, as Billy squires her around to several important parties in various hotels and embassies, he is kind and attentive, not like usual. Francesca knows Billy is only treating her so well because she found out he'd had an affair. Her own mother counseled Francesca to forgive him. Francesca's trying; in spite of everything, she's proud of her husband. Besides, what can she do? Leave him and raise two kids alone? Forgiveness, however, doesn't come easy to Sonny's daughter.
