Book 5, Chapter 20 Summary
The now-annual meeting of the Commission, held for the third year in a row at the same farmhouse in upstate New York, is raided by law enforcement. Never again will there be such a public gathering of all the Dons. Michael, with the famous Corleone luck, arrives late to the meeting, notices the cops, and drives on by the farmhouse. The other Dons try to hot foot it through the woods to freedom, but not known for their healthy lifestyles, most of them make it only a few hundred yards. An unexpected benefit to this family disaster is that when Sal Narducci is detained, the cops discover that in the sixty years he's resided in the U.S., he never became a citizen, and they deport him back to Italy; a lucky stroke for Nick.
