Book 2, Chapter 10 Summary
Back at Rattlesnake Island, the tower warns Geraci not to take off because of the storm. But Don Falcone has a hundred grand on a fight and says nothing will stop him from being ringside that night. Geraci, always the risk-taker, is game to take off, and even lies to reassure the Dons he's flown in conditions much worse than these. In the air, Nick, still flying under the "Gerald O'Malley" pilot's license, struggles hard against the weather. Nick thinks there might be something wrong with the fuel tank, but with the weather he can't be sure. To be safe, he switches tanks, thinking now he can forget about the fuel issue and focus on the weather. Instead, the plane begins to sputter. He switches tanks again, mutters something to the control tower about "sabotage." Everything's happening too fast; Nick can't...
