Book 2, Chapter 6 Summary
Fredo's name-dropping has finally gotten him some action. A police captain on Zaluchi's payroll shows up to rescue Fredo from the clutches of the customs officials. Fredo snaps at the captain to turn down the radio so he can make some calls. Bad timing, as the radio was about to play a news story about two men just shot to death by a restaurant supply salesman in a seedy motel room in Canada. Since Fredo never read the note on his windshield, he didn't know it was his own suicide note. It would be years before anyone learned that Louie Russo had orchestrated a supposed suicide-homicide, to look as if Fredo killed his male lover and then himself.
