Summary
Chapter 23 begins with a description of Georgie’s life since Jimmy spared her in the brothel. Georgie is fixated on the idea of earning enough money to get Harmony back from David, and writes him imaginary letters telling him so, but in reality, she is struggling. Jimmy had her work in one of his brothels for six months as “penance,” and now Georgie feels that prostitution is the “only thing she was good for” (313). She begins using her savings for “medication,” that is, drugs and alcohol (313). Georgie wonders at how she had “[undergone] such a metamorphosis—whore to saint” and then returned to whore (314). She looks to Robbie’s “Missing Person” webpage for comfort (314).
