Summary
In Chapter 12, Pop sees the old blind woman walking Whiskey. She is one of the few tenants he does not know, no one seems to know her. He asks her about her dog, and she says Buddha brought the dog to her years ago. She compliments his drivers. Pop found them in the 15th floor’s garbage, as one of his duties is sorting through trash. She says they are a dead man’s shoes. He realizes she is a clairvoyant, and leaves.
He wonders who the shoes could belong to. He thinks about his knowledge of the Kingdom and the money hoarded in its units, which he hopes he can one day use his knowledge to steal some and retire.
He wonders about Mali, who he has seen sneaking up to the Lim’s penthouse suite.
One night, he sees Sarah standing outside...
