Summary
On Monday morning, “Alice was first in the queue for the courthouse,” and she brings freshly baked cornbread for the deputy (363). Sven is back and sitting in the gallery, and the trial begins again. The defense begins that “Margery O’Hare here is a victim of unhappy circumstance,” when Kathleen bursts in and says there is a witness who needs to speak immediately. The judge is reluctant to have her speak, but considering her importance to the victim, he allows it. The courtroom is shocked.
