Summary

In Chapter 12, Clare met Leo in the supermarket and they began talking about his father. Leo suggested they continue their conversation over coffee. In the coffee shop, Clare was concerned how anyone seeing her and Leo together might interpret their actions. Leo asked about Clare’s husband and recognized him as a documentary maker who was nominated for an Oscar. She also admitted to Leo that Chris had burned down their house during a schizophrenic episode and even shared her fear now that he had been released. She said she did not know where he was living but suspected he had found them because he had left Pip the gifts.
