Summary

Chapter 31

Elizabeth, still in the hotel, tries to explain as best she can about what has transpired. Cady's parents are named Janie and Patrick. They are both microbiologists who developed a vaccine to the hantavirus. However, they caught wind of what Z-Biotech was intending to do with the vaccine and the virus and began to secretly collect evidence against the company so that they could go to the authorities. Elizabeth explains that Cady’s parents' activities became known and in a panic they took their children and went on the run. They destroyed all of their research save for some of the vaccines, which they took with them. They had been on their way to get Cady from school but when they got there she'd already been taken.
