Faith Winters
Faith is the narrative’s protagonist. Beverly is her mother. Thad is her stepfather. Dr. Melding is her therapist after her release from the mental hospital.
At the beginning of the narrative, Faith is a sensitive girl who lacks hope, faith, and self-confidence. She uses negative coping methods to deal with the negative events in her life. She physically attacks the student who tells her that her father was one of Sarah-Jane’s customers. She drinks whiskey to ease her pain. She uses a gun when the police do not believe that she saw Rat Face.
Faith is angry over the loss of her family members and friends. She is grieving the loss of her father when she hears that he had been unfaithful to her mother. Faith also believes that he could have been having an affair with Mrs. Foster. She feels that she lost her...
