Summary

Chapter 18

In an early morning discussion with SAPO, Grane lets it be known that she is beyond upset at the breach that almost cost August his life. Then she becomes combative when the rest of the members suggest that Mikael was the one that was hindering the investigation and that anything he might suggest in way of evidence should be considered suspicious. Grane knows that this is just bad press against Mikael and not really the truth, which she points out. Grane withholds her knowledge of Salander being the hacker that had saved August, or that Mikael knew about the attempt on August's life before it was too late. She begins to observe her superior, Helena Kraft, and realizes that most likely Kraft is on someone's payroll, and it isn't SAPO's. Later, she calls Berger and tells her that she has a safe...
