Annie and Ben, “The Rememberer”

Annie is the narrator of “The Rememberer.” The story offers little background information about her, other than that she is in a relationship with a man named Ben. Ben’s perspective is defined by the thought that people think too much and feel too little. Ben undergoes ‘reverse evolution,’ turning into a primate and then eventually into a salamander. Annie releases him into the sea, knowing that their relationship is over. She maintain some hope that he might return to human form and then come back to her.
