Summary
Brown believes that we cultivate worthiness by practicing courage, compassion, and connection. To demonstrate how these three tools work together in real life, she tells a personal story about speaking at to a group of parents at a school. She was asked to speak on the relationship between resilience and boundaries, but almost from the beginning of her talk she could see and feel that the audience wasn't with her and was even sending hostile signals. Brown tried to impress them by trading her authenticity for approval which she knows is always the wrong thing to do.
