Summary
Part 3 begins with an opinion piece in the Crystal newspaper. The town has been divided over whether or not gifted students are special needs students who deserve funding from tax dollars, or whether or not the tax dollars would be better spent on underserved populations. But the paper argued that everyone could agree that a standardized test with inherent biases was no way to conduct an admissions process to a public school.
In Chapter 29, Gareth gave Rose the newspaper and suggested that they stop trying to get Q into the Academy. Rose was angry, and suggested that they let Q decide. They went inside and Rose told Q that her score was a 135, and that Z had also gotten in. Q said that if Z was applying, then she wanted to apply, too.
