Summary
Philip traveled from Butterworth to Ipoh to see his grandfather. He found his house empty, so he searched for him in the temple he had shown him years ago. There he found his grandfather. Philip informed him of all the tragedy that had befallen the family, including Aunt Mei’s death, and he handed the ashes over to him. They embraced one final time, as the narrative reveals at the end of the chapter, Philip did not see his grandfather again after the war nor was he able to find the temple again. Onto his main mission, Philip made his way to Kon through the use of the Triads. When he found Kon and his guerrillas, he warned them of the ambush.
