Avnsø Lake
Avnsø Lake is a forested rural region in Denmark that, while appearing pleasant and welcoming on the outside, is in fact home to numerous crimes, assaults, and long-standing jealousies. Avnsø Lake is the region where Louise had grown up, and she must frequently drive back to the area after a dead body of an unidentified woman is discovered there. As Louise conducts the investigation, she is frequently shunned and insulted regarding the suicide of her boyfriend, Klaus, that occurred about twenty years earlier. While the investigation is ongoing, numerous other rapes, murders, and disappearances begin occurring, with Louise and her partner, Eik, eventually discovering that the culprit is Jørgen Parkov, a mentally disabled man who lives with his sister and accomplice, Bodil, in the region.
