Summary
In Chapter 22, Louise and Eik are again working on the case in the Rathole. Eik is examining Lise’s clothes at the time of her death: there are no rips or tears, which they deduce means that she may have been familiar with her attacker. Louise calls the Forensics Department and learns that the semen samples at the scenes of Lise’s death and Karen Lind’s death are a match with each other, but cannot be linked to anyone’s identity.
In Chapter 23, Louise and Eik travel to Mik’s office, and learn about a number of similar unsolved rapes and murders in the Avnsø Lake area in 1980. While they are there, Mik receives a phone call from the Forensics Department and learns that the DNA samples from the 1980 case also match the two present-day samples.
