Summary
In chapter 14, Ranger Rønholt tells Louise that, with Lise being identified, her work on the case is now over. The decision angers Louise, who hopes that Viggo will file a missing persons case for Mette, allowing the investigation to continue.
In chapter 15, Viggo calls Louise. Viggo had done some investigating on his own, and says that the funeral home the sisters had supposedly been buried in in 1980 had no record of burying women in that year. With the new information, Rønholt approves Louise and Eik now pursuing Mette. Louise and Eik drive again to Avnsø Lake, and Louise consults her friendly old neighbor Verner Post for further information.
