Sergeant Mandella, 2007-2024 A.D., Chapter 10 Summary

A woman Mandella does not recognize answers the door at his mother's apartment. His mother introduces her as Rhonda Wilder, her roommate. The three of them spend the evening together and Mandella tells them the story about London and why he is back much sooner than expected. Mandella is slightly surprised that his mother does not blink an eye when she learns that he killed a man. He tells them that he is planning to head to South Dakota within a week to visit Marygay and her parents. Eventually, Mandella's mother has to go to work and he and Rhonda are left alone. Acting on a hunch that he has had all evening, he asks Rhonda the nature of her relationship with his mother. Upon hearing that they are lovers, Mandella is shell-shocked...
