Summary
Chapter 10
Alexander Graham Bell inadvertently finds himself at the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia. A friend of his spotted him and encouraged him to set up a table and show off one of his inventions. The only one he could set up on the spur of the moment was his rudimentary phone. It took the gold medal and was moved to the featured position at the exhibition. Speaking to someone that you could not see now seemed believable and possible. Because of this chance, the author writes, the world would be forever altered by the invention of the phone.
Sully’s first job is to go to the Dial Tek phone mart and get them to renew their subscription to the newspaper. The young attendant, Jason, opens the door and speaks to Sully briefly. They walk into the office to get the check when...
