Summary

In Chapter 27, Avery agreed to take Eve to see Toby’s wing. Once they were there, Eve asked to be allowed to read Toby’s journal, the one he had written on his walls that could only be seen with a blacklight, alone.

In Chapter 28, Jameson helped Avery locate a seventh chess set. This set was designated the royal set and was stored in the vault. Avery requested Oren allow her to access that set. There was a piece of paper stored inside the black queen. Written on that piece of paper were the words: “Don’t breathe” (116).

In Chapter 29, at school the next day, Avery was called to the headmaster’s office. There, she was presented with a box that had been delivered for her.
