Summary

In Chapter 14, Grayson said his father, Sheffield Grayson, who had been related to one of the boys killed in the fire, was also not responsible for kidnapping Toby. He believed his father had abandoned his family, but Avery knew that Sheffield was dead. Months earlier, Sheffield had kidnapped Avery to lure Toby out. He was killed by Eve’s half-sister. Oren helped Toby cover up the murder.

Jameson pointed out that the kidnapper addressed the envelope to Avery. He also pointed out that he was communicating with them using games, suggesting that he knew Tobias liked games. Based on these clues, Jameson and the others thought Skye, their mother, might be responsible for Toby’s abduction. They decided they needed to talk to her in person.
