Summary
The Prologue begins with a description of how former New Jersey governor and former Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie became involved in transition from the Obama presidential administration to one headed by Donald Trump. Author Lewis describes how Christie became aware of meetings between the final group of candidates in the 2016 U.S. election and representatives from the outgoing Obama administration, and realized that the Trump campaign team had made no plans to construct a transition team. When he spoke to Trump about it, the author says, Christie was told that Trump did not want to be involved, or to pay.
