Summary

Faith’s parents reacted badly to the news that she was moving to Las Vegas. The power that they previously held, however, no longer had any bearing on Faith’s decisions as she was a grown woman exercising her adult rights.

Faith and Annie have both become cocktail waitresses at a hotel and casino. Faith tends to attract unwanted attention from the men at work. One night she takes particular notice of a man and a woman sitting at a blackjack table. When the woman leaves for the washroom, Faith and the man have a flirtatious exchange in which she learns that he is an executive at a company that produces cookies and crackers, but learns little else about him.

Soon thereafter, Annie learns that she is pregnant. She has been dating a comedian named Hockey Briggs, who, the following day, takes Annie...
