Summary
Zee has leant her family Volvo to Greer, and not for the first time, so that she can go to Princeton and see Cory. As Greer and Cory lay in his dorm room, a conversation unfolds concerning Cory’s self-consciousness at Princeton because of his family’s humble financial situation. Cory implies that Greer should be glad not to be attending an Ivy League school because of the heavier expectations regarding social stature there than at Ryland. Greer, still sensitive to the situation, is offended by Cory’s comment.
Greer is beginning to enjoy her life at Ryland more, which she attributes to Faith for changing her perspective. She even considers sending Faith an email to thank her, but decides against it, assuming Faith would be opposed to being “pen pals with a freshman at a shitty college that she has no memory...
