Summary

In Chapter 46, Claire enlists Sara and enacts the “Emergency Girlfriend Pact.” They go to Alex’s house and force her to come with them to eat, drink, and dye red stripes in their hair to celebrate her breakup from Jack. Alex tells Sara she is sorry about her uncle. Sara says it is sort of nice that he is dead. They give Alex a tiara and tell her she must wear it to school on Monday.

In Chapter 47, Alex goes to school wearing her tiara. She feels happy to finally have two friends. They find graffiti in the bathroom in Branley's handwriting calling Alex a "slut."

In Chapter 48, Claire continues to date Park, but they are headed off to different colleges and only have a few months of high school left, so she tells herself not to get too attached. He brings kittens...
