Summary
In Chapter 12, the school holds a drug assembly, Marilee Nolan’s older brother, Officer Nolan, lectures the students about the dangers of drinking and sexual assault. He says one in three girls will be victims and asks who it will be. A boy shouts out that he hopes it will be Branley. Officer Nolan counters by explaining that one of the boys will be the one to assault the girl. He tells the students that he cannot help them unless they make reports, and he promises to believe them and help them find justice. Someone remarks that Comstock was never prosecuted for killing Anna because there was not enough evidence, and when he was released and murdered, his murderer was never caught either. Officer Nolan projects his email and phone number and orders all the students to take a photo with their phones...
