Summary
On the eve of Trujillo’s assassination, Huascar Tejeda and Pedro Livio Cedeno are also waiting for Trujillo, with orders to cut off the dictator once de la Maza and the others start pursuing him. An ex-military man, Pedro is prone to outbursts of anger, especially at the racial slurs he has been bombarded with since his education in the United States, and he is swearing heavily when Trujillo and de la Maza drive by. Huascar and Pedro take off in pursuit.
As they are chasing them, Pedro thinks of his wife. She knows he is anti-Trujillista, but she thinks it is because his ex-wife is using her influence with the regime to prevent him from seeing his daughter.
