Chapter 22 Summary
Five days later, Hazel is attending Gus's funeral. When Gus's parents see Hazel, they shuffle over to her and hug her. Gus's mom tells Hazel that Gus really loved her and that he loved her so much. Hazel removes her oxygen tubes and approaches Gus in his casket. He's wearing his death suit, the same suit he wore when they went to dinner in Amsterdam. She sneaks a packet of cigarettes into the casket with Gus.
Isaac gives a eulogy at the funeral. It is different from the one that he gave to Gus at his pre-funeral. Hazel gives her eulogy. Hazel doesn't want to go to the graveyard, but her parents convince her to go. Peter Von Houten is also at the funeral. He asks to speak with Hazel at the end of the funeral.
