Chapter 8 Summary
Hazel and her parents have a cancer meeting with her doctors. The doctors tell her that her cancer is not going away but that they've seen patients like her live for a long time. at the end, when she asks if she can go to Amsterdam, Dr. Marie says yes, while the other doctor says no. on the way home, Hazel's parents tell her she cannot go to Amsterdam until her doctors agree that it is medically safe.
That night, when Augustus calls, Hazel tells him she can't go to Amsterdam. He says he should have paid for it himself, so his romantic gesture could have gotten him laid. He admits to being a virgin, which surprises Hazel. Her parents hook her up to the machine that helps her breathe and keep her lungs clear. The next morning she writes to Van Houten...
