Summary
In the section entitled "The Churn," young deportees from the US are dropped off just across the Mexican border in Reynosa. At a border town, Reynosa is a dangerous place where people smuggle everything from drugs to hopeful migrants, who are often targeted by the cartels as potential drug mules. As migrants also typically carry cash, they are heavily targeted by homicidal thieves. At a youth migrant shelter, deported boys wait for their families to pick them up and discuss their next attempt at getting into the United States, undeterred by the dangers of the journey.
