Summary
Libby and Dido meet Miller in front of the Cheyne Walk house at the beginning of Chapter 21. As Libby unlocks the padlock, she feels no sense of ownership over the house, even though, as Dido says, she owns a mansion. Miller fills the women in on the Lambs' history. Essentially, their lives were out-of-control. Henry, Sr., was an only child, and the reader can safely assume that his parents (who proceeded him in death) spoiled him. As an adult with his father's inheritance in hand, Henry, Sr., was able to buy things that made him look like he came from 'old money': the animal heads, hunting knives, and thrones. Being estranged from her own family, Martina was on her own in London. A brother went to the house in 1992, and although someone was there, no one came to the door.
