Summary

"Big Chao's Blood" begins as Dagou sends James to the store and asks him to pick up Alf for their mother. After a moment of watching Alice sketch, James orders Dagou's supplies but learns that she is not allowed to give Dagou any more credit. James thinks of how Alice will occasionally defy her mother, but does not push to know more about Dagou. Then, she shows him a detailed drawing of chambers filled with animals and the restaurant. They plan to meet at his house so her mother will not know.

Alf's Secret continues as James heads toward Brenda's address realizing that he forgot something. A group of boys insult him for being Chinese and run away. He recalls how he ignored the bullying while Ming became a target. Brenda says she asked Dagou to come to get Alf himself...
