Summary
In Chapter 48, Luzia convinces their guard, Rudolfo, that she can make the woman he loves fall for him in exchange for sending a message to Teoda’s brother, Ovidio. Four days later, they clean themselves up as nice as possible and, once night falls, Luiza uses her magic to unlock their door. Using a map that Teoda’s brother got to them, they continue through the dark, with Luiza using her magic to distract the guards with the sound of a giant woman screaming. They find Teoda’s brother outside and bribes the guards to let them out. However, one notices that their hands are too calloused for nobility and attack. Ovidio is killed, but Luzia manages to get Teoda into a coach and to safety before Luzia herself is captured.
