Summary
In Chapter 16, Luzia realizes she is not afraid of Santángel as she practices her magic. Then, he breaks a sapling she grew and asks if she can heal it. She does, but feels the music in her head is trying to go in another direction that she is not aware of. Víctor arrives, calling her mediocre and says that Santángel’s fingers should be broken for not teaching her fast enough. Luzia begs him to stop, but Víctor demands that she heal Santángel herself. Hatred and fear pulls Luzia into a song she does not recognize and pain overtakes her as she thinks of words she has never said.
Chapter 17 shifts to Santángel’s perspective as the servant sent to break his fingers is brutally killed by Luzia, much to Víctor’s shock. Santángel tells...
