Chapters 23 and 24 Summary
In Chapter twenty-three, they make it through the door and Kiernan plans to hold their pursuers at bay but the moment Mika steps away, the door disappears. The three rush toward the coronation ceremony and push their way through the crowd. Sinda cries out to stop the ceremony and Melaina steps out to meet her. Sinda tells the queen of Melaina's plan, including the prophecy of the death of the princess and killing the king. Melaina begins to deny Sinda's claims, pointing out that Kiernan would do anything for her and that she's desperate to regain a place of importance in the kingdom. Sinda realizes no one is going to believe her but she recalls Philantha's words about performing spells, saying it is always easier to perform a spell on oneself.
