Chapters 20 through 22 Summary

In Chapter twenty, Sinda is asleep when guards arrive outside her holding cell. They argue, one saying that Melaina had left explicit instructions that Sinda wasn't to be moved and the other pointing out that the house would soon be totally engulfed in flames. The second says he doesn't plan to explain to Melaina that Sinda had died in the house fire and they agree to move her. Once they are outside, Sinda sees the fire is very serious and then she sees Kiernan and Mika. Sinda uses magic to throw the guards off her and then rushes toward Kiernan but she stops, remembering Melaina's words that she is nobody and therefore not good enough for Kiernan.

Kiernan explains that he'd followed Sinda and had helped Mika escape when Sinda was captured. He says they'd set the fire in the hope...
