Chapters 1 and 2 Summary

As the story opens, Sinda is in the garden with her good friend, Kiernan. Sinda believes she is Nalia, the princess and is the only heir to the throne. She lives with the king and queen and their court in the city of Vivaskari. On a particularly nice day, Sinda and Kiernan are trying to figure out a puzzle. They have a map they believe leads to King Kelman's Door, a magic opening in the wall that surrounds the palace. They discovered the map one day in the library and believe they know where the door is located in the wall, but they can't find it.
