Chapter 36 Summary

The plan starts to fall apart as soon as it is set. Covenant ships start to surround the Pillar of Autumn. The crew radios into the Reach and the Super MACs fire and destroy one of the Covenant ships. As the MACs try to fire at the remaining ships, one of the ships destroys two more Super MAC guns, leaving an unlucky 13 left. The Pillar of Autumn fires at the Covenant ship and the Covenant ship fires and hits the Pillar of Autumn. Eventually, the Covenant ship disappears. They Captain and Cortana receive a transmission from Reach that indicates the Covenant are invading by the hundreds. The Captain orders to the ship to head to port for repair while asking Cortana to get the Spartans online so he can warn them on what they are about to encounter.
