Chapter 31 Summary

Chief McRobb and his crew are monitoring space surrounding planet Reach. It is their job to protect the planet and the Reach Military Complex, which is the heart of USNC operations, from attack. They notice an unidentified object on the screen that has somehow managed to make its way into Slipstream space. McRobb realizes that it is the only object that has made it into Slipstream since the attack on Sigma Octanus, which is the planet where the Spartans brought back the granite rock from and gave it to the Military Complex on planet Reach. McRobb calls for the crew to implement Cole Protocol. As hundreds of Covenant ships accelerate toward them, McRobb says they've done everything and there is just one more order to carry out.
