Chapters 16 Summary

Commander Jacob Keyes is standing on the bridge of the Iroquois. Keyes is reading the outpost station's report of the large mass Ensign Lovell spotted. Commander Jacob Keyes agrees with Ensign Lovell's inclination that the mass is too large to be a Covenant ship, but Commander Jacob Keyes thinks the shape of the mass is familiar. Commander Jacob Keyes's first assignment was Dr. Halsey in observing children. The Commander looks at his database of Covenant ships and finds one that is a similar shape to the mass showing on his screen. The Commander dials into Admiral Stanforth and requests that all ships in the area rendezvous with the Iroquois. The Commander explains that the mass they re seeing is four Covenant ships overlapped in Slipspace. The Admiral commends the Commander and says he'll send all the help to the Iroquois he can.
