Chapter 14 Summary

John pilots the Pelican toward the Commonwealth. John asks Dr. Halsey for permission to attack the Covenant ship, she denies him, but John convinces her that the Spartans can win if they invade the ship. John asks for the Commonwealth to send out some decoys so the Spartans can enter through the hole of the reflective area of the alien ship. John, Kelly and Sam make it onto the alien ship. Kelly figures out the code to open the door of the ship. They run into a birdlike alien in the room. The alien screeches, the Spartans open fire and kill the alien. They walk further, Kelly opens another door and they run into an angry alien. When they try to shoot the alien, he has a protective shield up, and he opens fire on the Spartans. Sam is struck.
