Chapter 4 Summary

Number 117 is woken up by being electrocuted by a baton. It's Mendez that is shouting at Number 117, also known as John, to get up out of bed. It's the first day of training for the 72 students that have been chosen. The kids workout so hard that John throws up. They are only given crackers to eat for lunch while they watch the 300 Spartans fight the Trojans on video. The children are grouped into teams of three, where on John's team, on of his team members is a girl. The winner of the competition gets to have a big dinner, while the loser doesn't get to eat dinner at all. John thinks the girl is going to slow them down, but she's actually faster than him and the other boy on their team. They end up winning.
