Summary

In Chapter 17, after riding with her father to take Claire’s parents to the airport, Meredith decided not to go shopping. She told her father she wanted to go home and rest. Meanwhile, in the alternate reality, Lisa’s nose continued to bleed and she said she was cold. Meredith went to get a blanket but when she returned to the bathroom, she found she was locked out.

Back in reality, Meredith asked at dinner if she could go to a sleepover at Becca’s house. She silently dared her parents to say no and thought about how she would tell them what was really going on with her if they would not allow her to go. Claire said it was okay even when Mark started to argue. Claire said to Meredith: “Please … Just go’” (302).
