A cybrid is a human raised to manifest the consciousness of an artificial intelligence that lives largely in the TechnoCore. In a special series of experiments, the TechnoCore has been attempting to graft the personality of a famous human being from history onto an artificial intelligence. Most of the attempts have been unstable. They succeeded with the John Keats AI, which is a recreation of the personality of the famous Earth poet.
In Hyperion, the Keats cybrid hires private investigator Brawne Lamia to find out who killed it. By killed it, Keats means that something destroyed data in its history.
