Morpungo takes one ship armed with the deathwand weapon to translate to Hyperion. Gladstone broadcasts to the whole Hegemony. She reveals that it is the TechnoCore that is behind the invasion and that it resides in the farcaster network. Every farcaster singularity node is destroyed by FORCE ships within a two second timeframe. At the same time, General Morpungo's ship enters a singularity to translate to Hyperion. As planned, his ship enters the singularity moments before its destruction and his ship ceases to exist.

Chaos ensues on all Hegemony worlds. Millions died instantly because of neurological dependence on the Web. Every Hegemony world is now isolated.
