Summary
Christopher says that the true ending of the Fall of Gondolin was meant to be the beginning of The Tale of Earendel. While that story was never written, Christopher says that the history of the survivors is vital into understanding the entity Eldar days. It is here that he includes the conclusion of the Sketch of 1926 that comes directly after the Morgoth claimed victory in The Fall of Gondolin.
