Lucy Adler
Lucy is the 17-year-old protagonist and first person narrator of The Falconer. She lives in New York City on the Upper West Side with her mother and father, and attends a nondenominational private school called Pendleton. Lucy is a basketball phenom, a fact that lends her the respect and admiration of her best friend Percy, but not his romantic interest, which is what she really wants. Lucy spends most of her time shooting hoops, smoking marijuana and talking about philosophy with Percy, and visiting her older cousin Violet, who lives in an artist's loft on the Lower East Side. She has another close friend, Alexis Feliz, with whom she plays on Pendleton's basketball team.
The Falconer is fundamentally the story of Lucy's coming-of-age as she attempts to determine what kind of woman, and for that matter what kind of person, she wants to be. While doing so...
