In chapter eleven, Polly has become Mycroft's assistant after an accident that killed Mycroft's last assistant. Mycroft wants to open a door into a Wordsworth poem with his Prose Portal and have Polly go inside for two minutes. Polly is hesitant, but Mycroft promises her it is safe. Mycroft transported himself into a work of literature just that morning. Polly agrees and finds the poem fascinating, although Wordsworth himself seems depressed.
